George's trip to Europe 2008 - Part 1

In August 2008, Mike and I decided to go on a holiday whoch would take us to the resting places of our relatives, who died in both World Wars.

We planned a route, which would take us 2,000 miles, round five different countries, in seven days.  Our vehicle of choice?  George, of course!

We set off on the afternoon of the first day, planning to drive as far as we could, through the night.  We hoped to reach Becklingen War Cemetery in Soltau, Germany by morning.  We managed to reach Herford, where we slept in George, in a petrol station, for the night.

Our route on Day 1

So far, George had behaved perfectly ... would it continue?

Miles that day: 519

Total miles: 519
