The Castle Park Car Show

The other Sunday, I attended the car show in the Castle Park, Colchester.  Again, it was sad that George could not be there but going in Mike's GT6 wasn't so bad.  We travelled there in convoy with Mike's friend Jonathan and his Spitfire.

That said, George did attend last year.  It was his last outing before his carburettor died.  In fact, it was at the show that I had to call the RAC man over to help get him working again!!

Amongst the assembled vehicles were many real favourites of mine - a beautiful baby blue mini, a wonderful red Audi Quattro and a good selection of Triumphs.

For me though, the star of the show had to be the stunningly gorgeous 1976 mark I Volkswagen Golf 1.6 in a truly 70s mustard yellow.  It was pristine with two owners from new and a mere 16,500 miles on the clock.  I was so jealous!

Aside from the cars, I was pleased to see Linda and Roger of the Catherine Bullen Foundation raising money with their plate smashing stall.  The Catherine Bullen Foundation is a cause which is close to my heart.  Do check out their website.

To next year ... Do attend!  It is well worth it.  And you never know ... you might just see George!
